Stressed? Become simple.

I want you to cast your mind back in time. To when you were a child playing at the beach. I want you to remember, if you can what it felt like to be that small and innocent child.

The sand was warm beneath your feet. Unless you live in Victoria and then it was cold. Because everything in Victoria is cold. But I digress. Back to the warmth of the sand, the sun on your body, the smell of salt and sunscreen.

You don’t have anywhere to be. All you are focused on is building your castle of sand and having fun with it. The tide is coming in and you want to build it strong and tall and see if it can hold up against the waves crashing closer, and closer.

Now back to where you are right now. I want you to reflect on your life as it is right now. Can you still find that place of being-that relaxed and playful attitude towards life? Or, are you feel heavy, restricted and weighed down?

Could be work is really stressing you right now. You could be facing challenge and uncertainty. Maybe things are fine but you’re just doing a lot. Busy. Career, self-development, juggling a relationship and potentially even children.

You mind is always on. There’s always something to do, or plan for, or think ahead. Your body feels tight. Your energy is stretched and you need a coffee to get going in the morning. Then it’s a second, even a third before noon. You don’t really need it but it just feels good. You just like the taste. There’s nothing wrong with caffeine right?

Some nights your head hits the pillow and finally your body stops. But the mind whirls. Thinking, thinking, thinking. Every time you stop it thinks. Always busy.

When’s the last time you truly stopped? Stopped and just watched a sunrise. You see that sun come roaring over the flat horizon and you see how the world wakes. How much life is around you-the trees, the birds, the ocean. All flooded with light, bursting with life, and colour, and music.

This is your potential. Your heart is a sun pumping warm blood like light through the world of your body. You have access to infinite amounts of energy and life. This is your potential as a human being. Really? You ask. How?

Remember that child playing on the beach? That child is accessing it every moment. Because the child knows what as adults we forgot. How to be simple, how to play, how to be infinitely creative. How to enjoy life.

I love supporting clients through stress. Most of us, in some way carry stress. That’s normal. But our response to stress-to soften and to regulate-that’s the big shift. Moving towards life from a place of ease and happiness. You got this.
